Red light for skin: the one with the most research behind it

If you only trust red light therapy for one thing, make it this one. Skin is where the research runs deepest, hundreds of studies on collagen, fine lines, and healing. It's why these machines showed up in dermatology offices long before gyms ever got them.

Here's the plain version of how it works. The red wavelengths get absorbed in the first layers of your skin, where they nudge the cells that make collagen back to work. Collagen is the scaffolding your skin sits on. You make less of it every year after about 25, and that slow decline is most of what we read as aging skin. More collagen means fine lines soften and skin holds its shape better.

What to expect

This is the patient one. Skin changes show up over 8 to 12 weeks of consistent sessions, and the people who see the most are the ones who treat it like brushing their teeth. Take a photo before you start. You'll be glad you did, because day to day you won't notice the shift until you compare.

It's gentler and slower than Botox or lasers, with none of the downtime. If you want dramatic overnight change, this is the wrong tool. If you want your skin quietly better in three months, it's the right one.

At Radius

The Pinnacle bed's Skin mode runs the wavelengths tuned for this, and because it's a full-body bed, your skin gets it everywhere, not just your face. Sessions are 15 minutes. Friday mornings from 9 to 1 are dedicated red light time.

Common questions
How long until I see a difference in my skin?

Plan on 8 to 12 weeks of consistent sessions. Collagen rebuilds slowly. Take a before photo, because the change sneaks up on you.

Does it help with acne?

There's decent research on light for acne, mostly for calming the inflammation that makes breakouts angry and slow to heal. It works best alongside whatever routine your dermatologist has you on.

Is it safe for darker skin tones?

Yes. There's no UV, so there's no tanning or burning, and the research includes all skin types. If you take medication that makes your skin light-sensitive, talk to us before you book.
