Prenatal Chiropractic care

While challenging at times, pregnancy is a beautiful and rewarding season of life.

Our goal is for every mom to understand that her body was specifically and intelligently designed for the birthing process.

We strive to educate families about the benefits of chiropractic care during and after pregnancy.

The benefits of seeing a chiropractor during pregnancy:

Relieving back, hip, neck and joint pain

Reducing labor pain and delivery time by 40%

Decreasing rates of cesarean delivery and induction

Reducing nausea

Improving sleep

Increasing energy

Maintaining a healthier pregnancy for baby and mom.

Dr. Dan went above and beyond to receive certification in the Webster Technique, a chiropractic technique specifically designed for pregnant women.

This technique provides a growing baby with the most ideal birthing environment by balancing the pelvis and decreasing stress on the uterus and surrounding ligaments.

What is the Webster Technique?

The technique was developed by Dr. Larry Webster, founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Distinct from general chiropractic care, this method specifically focuses on bringing the pelvis and surrounding muscles and ligaments into balance during pregnancy.

Whereas many people seek chiropractic care to solely alleviate pain, this technique supports overall maternal functions and is recommended for pregnancy whether or not the mom is currently feeling discomfort.

Affordable prices AND high quality care! I can’t recommend Radius enough for your chiropractic care in Asheville.

What should you expect?

Your appointments with your doctor will be something you’ll look forward to. It is our goal that each appointment brings physical comfort and an emotional sense of ease.

Before your adjustment begins, your doctor will always discuss with you any updates to your overall health, pregnancy, and any new sensations or symptoms.

After the initial assessment and one-on-one discussion, you can expect your chiropractor to complete your adjustment using a specially modified table to allow space for your growing belly and other pillows or supports for your comfort.

These appointments are slightly longer than a typical adjustment appointment and include targeted massage as well.

Your appointment is customized for exactly what your body needs at the moment, and for what the baby needs to be well positioned for birth.

Above all, treatment with the Webster Technique is gentle and safe.

Absolutely love Radius Chiropractic and the passion they have for bringing holistic health options to Asheville. They do such a great job taking care of their practice members. Highly recommend!

When should I start chiropractic care during pregnancy?

No matter what point you’re at in your pregnancy, it is not too late to begin treatment. However, the earlier our doctors can see you the better.

Releasing the stress building on your pelvis and uterine structures will be essential in helping you remain comfortable and active as long as possible up to the baby’s birth.

Chiropractic care during Preconception Phase

Chiropractic care can also be supportive during the preconception phase.

When it comes to preconception, chiropractic care prepares the body for pregnancy by ensuring that the brain and nervous system are functioning optimally.  This is very important because your brain controls your stress response. Stress can impact fertility in a number of ways, both directly and indirectly.

Firstly, stress can disrupt the delicate balance of hormones that are necessary for ovulation and fertilization to occur. Chronic stress can lead to an increase in the hormone cortisol, which can interfere with the production of other reproductive hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and luteinizing hormone. This disruption can interfere with the menstrual cycle, making it more difficult to conceive.

Secondly, stress can affect the quality of sperm and eggs. Stress can cause oxidative damage to the body, which can harm the DNA in sperm and eggs. This damage can reduce the chances of successful fertilization and increase the risk of miscarriage.

Thirdly, stress can affect sexual function and libido, making it less likely for couples to engage in sexual activity during the fertile window. Stress can also cause tension in the pelvic area, which can make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg.

Finally, stress can lead to unhealthy coping behaviors that can impact fertility, such as a poor diet, alcohol consumption, etc. These behaviors can further disrupt the delicate balance of hormones and affect overall reproductive health.
